Sport at Salway Ash

Sport and Healthy Living are a very important part of life at Salway Ash School.
Every child is encouraged to take part in as many different sporting activities as possible and are taught the value of keeping fit and well.
By the end of their school career every child can swim at least one length, the majority far more, and wherever possible will have represented the school in at least one sporting team.
Bronze Ambassadors
Each year we train up 8 Bronze Ambassadors who learn leadership skills with children from other schools which they then put into action back in school to keep the younger children moving and playing constructively.
The children were brilliant and had a great understanding of their role. They took their responsibilities very seriously immediately putting them into action on their return.

On Tuesday afternoon, two mixed gender teams from KS2 participated in a Cross Country relay event at Colfox School. We are delighted to share that Salway Ash came home with a clean sweep of medals: the year 5 & 6 teams came first and second and the year 3 & 4 team came first and third.

Two teams from Badger Class (Years 3 and 4) took part in the annual futsal tournament at Beaminster School. We are delighted to share that both teams performed brilliantly throughout the competition, with our Year 4 team being crowned overall winners!

Several children were shortlisted for the Player of the Tournament award, and a huge congratulations goes to Jesse in Year 3, who was named the overall winner!

A huge well done to everyone involved!

A group of children from Dragonfly class took part in the Bridport Lions’ Swimarathon competition. We are delighted to say that the children won the competition for most laps swum by a primary school.
