Salway Ash PTA

The last quiz and curry night  raised over £750! Brilliant job.

Salway Ash School needs YOU!!

Monthly PTA meetings - We would love you to come and hear our plans for fund raising and contribute your own suggestions and fun ideas for the children and families of our lovely school. Please feel free to drop in to any of the meetings.

The PTA is a great way for parents/carers to get involved in the school and to meet other parents. Everyone is welcome and the more the merrier! There is a PTA committee and a PTA Helpers Group, so if you are not able to commit too much time, then the Helpers Group is a good option. You will be kept informed of future events and can offer to help in any that you like. There’s also a facebook group so please ask to join if you are an interested parent.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET INVOLVED?
Please contact any of the PTA committee members below or the School Office with your contact details and they will be in touch.

THE PTA COMMITTEE

In the upcoming academic year we are fundraising to install outdoor exercise equipment in the school grounds.  Outdoor exercise is proven to enhance fitness, stimulate emotional wellbeing and help deliver essential oxygen and vitamin D, whilst working on specific physical benefits including muscle strength, flexibility & balance as well as co-ordination – not to mention the sense of achievement the children will have!

Cloakroom Project
The PTA and School Council have worked together to redesign and redecorate the cloakrooms fundraising with a mega cake sale for the paint and tools required.  Miss Skelton, Mrs Hunt and Mrs Huxter have worked on the cloakrooms over the holidays and they are looking bright and bold and hopefully exactly as the children imagined!

Huge thanks to Bridport Timber who supplied us with beautiful Farrow and Ball paint at cost price to help make the cloakroom project happen even when we ran out and had to go back for more!

The PTA have recently purchased
New Staging, The story telling area with chairs and wooden slugs, phonics resources, library books, basketball hoops (which were sadly faulty and had to be returned!), Athletics equipment, leavers gifts, cookie cutters……and more. We have refurbished the crumbling flower beds at the front of the school with help from parent Mr Murless of Little Fones Landscapes.

We have now installed two climbing frames - one at the front of the school for the younger children and a new one at the back for the older ones.

The PTA also fund transport for many of the annual school trips and the children's christmas party.
Salway Ash Big Breakfast
As part of our ongoing fundraising for some new outdoor climbing equipment for Key Stage 2 in the top playground the PTA ran a very successful 'Big Breakfast' on Valentines Day. It was a fantastic community event supported by a great many people from Salway Ash Village and beyond.

In total the breakfast raised over £900!

The school and the PTA would like to thank all who cooked, prepared, served and cleared all morning as well as those who came along to support us or donated food or raffle prizes.
Salway Ash pupils past and present were brilliant and worked extremely hard serving and clearing and represented our school beautifully.

WE DID IT!! HOORAY! THANK YOU! A few years ago our little school was given a mammoth fundraising task. In order to pay our part for our wonderful new building we had to raise £54,000. Impossible? We thought so! But together we have done it!

Staff, Governors, PTA, parents, children and friends have clubbed together and baked, cycled, bought, sold, sponsored, danced, supported, swum, organised, and a great many other things, generally working tirelessly and donating generously until we have reached our target. We’ve had a lot of fun along the way but are delighted to have made it and with time to spare!

The school is so proud of all who have been a part in this huge effort and delighted to uphold this as an example of what can be done when we work together for something amazing!

The children are benefitting hugely from the new facilities so all the effort is well worthwhile.

Please do not underestimate how very appreciative we are of all those who support our ongoing fundraising. Your contributions have not gone unnoticed however large or small. Your constant baking, manning stalls, buying tickets, making costumes, sending money, attending events etc has been fantastic and we couldn’t do it without you.
