Years 5 & 6

Class teacher: Mrs Smith
Support Staff: Mrs Phillips and Mrs Flawn
Each class has it's own dedicated information page on eschools. If you are a child or a parent in this class please log in to your eschools account to view more about what is going on in the Dragonflies' Stream!
Last term our class did a design and technology project where we made our own machines.
We used our design skills to create casings to house electrical circuits with a specific purpose in everyday life- fans, lights...etc.
We also each made a video advertising our finished product which we showed the parents in our class assembly.
We think we would have made plenty of sales!

British Values in Year 5 and 6
In this area of the curriculum we explore:

  • what democracy is
  • laws and how they are made
  • why equality of opportunity for all is important
  • the importance of respect for and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs

We enjoyed a visit from the Parliament Outreach Service where we learnt about things like: what happens in the House of Commons and the House of Lords; how bills become law and how governments are elected.
Here we are voting democratically for our class representatives on the School Council.

Lessons involve discussing values such as perseverance, resilience and determination. The children are beginning to understand how they need to demonstrate such values to be successful learners.

Badminton in Year 5/6
Let our light shine as we achieve together:
This is our school mission statement which we have been illustrating and working on our understanding of. Below you will see pictures of our hall display which we created with our artwork. We also chose a favourite bible story to illustrate and explain.
