We finally have a footpath! We can walk to school!
10th June 2016
After almost 30 years of campaigning Salway Ash now has a safe route to walk to school! We are very grateful to all those who have played a part in this tireless campaigning over the years- it is so good to see their hard work has now been worth it and will benefit current families and generations to come.
The school and the church in our village are half a mile out of the main residential area along a very narrow, very fast, country lane. This has made it impossible for almost everyone to walk to school.
On Friday the 10th June the new path was opened by Oliver Letwin MP and 200 school children, parents and villagers processed along the newly completed path waving flags and celebrating this long awaited moment.
The children are delighted to be able to come to school on foot or on their scooters and we hope it will go some way to alleviate the parking issues outside our school.
Please note: If you wish your child to use the footpath unaccompanied you must complete a permission form which is available from school and also attached below.
Also, please be aware that if your child is going to be using the footpath after school clubs (at 4.30/5pm) it is likely that they will be alone on the footpath which is a fairly isolated route.
