Life Education Visit

30th January 2018
This week we had our annual visit from Harold the Giraffe and the mobile Life Education Classroom. The children always really look forward to the visit and benefit greatly from the content.

Life Education Wessex works with children aged 3-13, parents and teachers to improve the health and to reduce the risk of drug misuse by young people.

Using stimuli-rich and interactive techniques such as puppetry and role play, children learn about the cause and effect relationships of issues they may face as they grow up, including:

  • Healthy eating
  • Drugs and alcohol
  • Forming positive friendships
  • Valuing their own self- worth

The programmes offered by Life Education Wessex  help children to develop the ability to make positive choices about their health.  Age-appropriate facts throughout the sessions help children make informed decisions.  The children are empowered with the skills and self-confidence to put their decisions into practice.  The learning process, delivered by specially trained educators, is fun and captures children’s imaginations.

Our children took part in the following workshops-

Reception Children- Taking Care of Myself

Year 1 and 2 children - Feelings

Year 3 and 4 children - It's great to be me

Year 5 and 6 children - Decisions

Parents were invited to take part in their own session at the beginning of the day so that they were kept informed about the content and could answer any questions raised.
