Art Club children (ably aided by parents Mr Pepper and Miss Littler and Cover Supervisor Mrs Phillips.) have created some outstanding elephant models to enter in the Summer Schools exhibition at Bridport Arts Centre. We are proud to be able to support this community initiative.
The project was inspired by the London's elephant parade which worked to save the Asian Elephant from extinction. Our school children are passionate about conservation and have already adopted a rhino and a leopard from the WWF.
The children used chicken wire frames covered in ModRoc plaster to create the elephants and designed and painted them themselves.
It is vital for our children to learn the social and moral messages behind some of our school projects. This elephant parade really has been multi-faceted.
Perhaps above all, the children had so much fun doing it and were inspired to develop their creativity in many new ways.
We can't wait to see the elephants installed in the gallery in August.
